Brantley Gilbert Says Break Up With Jana Kramer Won’t Affect His New Album

Brantley Gilbert Says Break Up With Jana Kramer Won’t Affect His New Album

Brantley Gilbert is planning to release his next album in early 2014, and back in July when he talked about the album he said Jana Kramer, his fiancée at the time, would definitely have at least one song about her on the album, in fact it was the very first song he wrote about her. The couple called off their engagement in August, but Brantley says that it won’t have an impact on the content of his new album. He told cmt.com “The love songs are still on there,”,  “I didn’t change anything. It’s kinda like how tattoos are chapters of your life. And all my records are chapters of my life. They all tell stories, and obviously she’s a big part of the story.”

The album was never going to be full of love songs about Jana, because she came in at the end of the four years of writing that Brantley had done for this new album. Instead, at the time, he predicted the album following this next one would probably be more geared toward her. That may be especially true now, since he’ll probably be writing about the break up. He told CMT.com, “I sing about the things that I don’t have conversations about. That’s me giving as much as I can.”

Brantley thinks the new album will be called Just As I Am and the first single will be a song called “Bottoms Up,” which he’ll release to radio next month. In the meantime, he has moved back to Georgia, to the custom-built house he had just completed prior to moving in with Jana in Nashville. He says, “I just flew back and forth to make the record. I’ll be in Nashville for a while now. Then I’ve got some time off.” He smiled and added, “I had a wedding scheduled, and my schedule just opened up.”
