One lane of Union Avenue is blocked off after the roof collapsed on a downtown parking garage. Accumulated ice is blamed for the collapse at 228 Union Avenue, according Jonesboro E911 Director Jeff Presley.
He says no one was hurt in the collapse. Owners were able to get their cars out before the roof collapsed. However, there are still vehicles on the south end of the parking garage. They have not been removed for fear that the rest of the structure may still collapse.
Police have the left-hand lane barricaded while crews work to clear the scene. Please, use caution in this area. KAIT will have more on this story tonight on Region 8 News at 5 and 6.
