A song Buddy Holly never got the chance to record and his biggest hits are to feature on a new country music tribute album to the bespectacled rock ‘n’ roller.

Merle Haggard, T. Graham Brown and Jimmy Fortune are among the stars who have covered Holly for new album “The Buddy Holly Country Tribute: Remember Me,” which will be released on what would have been the singer’s 78th birthday next month.

But one track will stand out – Scott Wiseman’s “Remember Me” was a song Holly’s death in a 1959 plane crash prevented him from recording.

Proceeds from the sales of the album will benefit the Buddy Holly Educational Foundation.
