Jimi and Janis to be honored on new stamps

Expect a new stamp featuring a couple of music legends soon.

The United States Postal Service is issuing stamps this year to commemorate both Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

The first one out will be the one for Hendrix; it’s due out a week from today — and it’s one of those “forever” stamps.

Besides the stamp release, the USPS will hold a tribute performance for Hendrix the day of the release at the SXSW Outdoor Stage. That event will be free and open to the public.

Last year, Ray Charles and Johnny Cash were among those honored with stamps.
