People’s Choice pits ‘Downton Abbey’ against ‘Walking Dead’

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Only at the People’s Choice Awards could “The Walking Dead” compete against “Downton Abbey.” They’re both up for best cable TV drama, along with “Sons of Anarchy,” “Pretty Little Liars” and “White Collar.”

Sandra Bullock has five nominations, including two for favorite duo. She’s paired with George Clooney in “Gravity” and with Melissa McCarthy in “The Heat.”

“Glee” leads all TV shows with eight nominations, including favorite network TV comedy. Robin Williams will try to win his second award for favorite actor in a new TV series 35 years after he won for playing Mork in “Mork and Mindy.” “Fast and Furious 6″ competes against “Iron Man 3,” “Despicable Me 2,” “Monsters University” and “Star Trek into Darkness” for favorite movie. Winners will be announced tonight.

EXTRA: Jennifer Hudson to be honored at People’s Choice Awards

The stars of “2 Broke Girls” will host tonight’s People’s Choice Awards and they’ll be as far from Tina Fey and Amy Poehler as you can get. Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs have never hosted an awards show, or any show for that matter, and they’re not out to make fun of anyone.

Dennings says her only goal is to not “throw up on stage.” If she does, it would be on a full stomach. She and Behrs both say they have to eat before the show so they don’t pass out.

WATCH: 10 best ‘Simpsons’ episodes

In this photo released by Fox, Homer explains why he wants to bring back the annual 4th of July fireworks display, after it's cancelled for budget reasons, in the "Yellow Badge of Cowardge" Season Finale episode of "The Simpsons," in May 2014. The full 25-year run of "The Simpsons" will arrive on cable channel FXX with a summer marathon, to be paired this fall with a digital extravaganza that could turn other TV shows yellow with envy. "I'm not going to over-promise, but I think this website will provide you with affordable health care," longtime "Simpsons" executive producer Al Jean told a TV critics' meeting Monday, July 21, 2014.

The recent marathon of all 552 episodes of "The Simpsons" inspired us to sit down and come up with our 10 favorite episodes. Enjoy!
