‘Star Trek” legend Leonard Nimoy is suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The veteran actor, 82, known to millions as Spock in the hit sci-fi show, blames his years of smoking for giving him the lung condition.

He sparked fears for his health last month when he was pictured in New York sitting in a wheelchair and attached to breathing apparatus, and he has since told fans he is suffering from the illness.

In a post on his official Twitter.com page, Nimoy writes, “I quit smoking 30 yrs (years) ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). Grandpa says, quit now!! LLAP (live long and prosper).”
