The Band Perry pays for funerals of family killed in Kentucky fire

Country music group The Band Perry are helping to cover the costs of funerals for a mother and her eight children who were killed in a house fire in Greenville, Kentucky on Thursday.

LaRae Watson, 35, and her kids, ranging in age from four to 15, perished in a blaze at their home. Father Chad J. Watson and their 11-year-old daughter were the only survivors.

It has now been revealed that a representative for the group had been in contact with the family and offered to pay all funeral costs, as well as covering the hotel bill for relatives staying near Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Watson and his daughter are being treated.

Family friend Pam Burden tells CNN.com, “I don’t know why The Band Perry reached out to the family other than they are just very gracious. The family doesn’t have any personal connection to the band before now.”

The band has not commented on the generous donation.

On Sunday the trio, comprised of siblings Kimberly, Reid and Neil Perry, took the stage in East Rutherford, New Jersey as part of the Super Bowl XLVIII pregame show.
