Awolnation’s ‘Sail’ sets Billboard record

Awolnation’s rock anthem “Sail” has become the first single in history to advance to a new peak position on the Billboard Hot 100 in America after spending a year on the chart.

Singer-songwriter Aaron Bruno’s track first hit the countdown 55 weeks ago, and now it sits at number 20.

The track has been bought and downloaded 3.8 million times.

Bruno tells Billboard.com, “I never actually expected people to hear the song at all. When I wrote it, I had thrown in the towel as far as anticipating any kind of commercial success.”
