OUT OF GAS IN LOUISIANA!

gas

OK. So it’s like I told my son, Chaz, when he was the only one to get out of the car and go inside with me. You never panic. Every situation is an opportunity for a life experience. In this case we met an old Cajun named Keith Monastery, his wife an…d son. Lifelong residents of Manchac, LA. The only exit on the long bridge on I-10 and I-55 coming in and out of New Orleans. They filmed a movie called Red at Keith’s place. Unfortunately Keith’s scene was cut out but he is still proud. Gene Simmons from KISS ran out of gas once and Keith helped him. He’s also proud of all the fish hanging up in his boat store including a prehistoric looking head from a 70 pound gar–and his antique outboard motors hanging from the ceiling! His wife and son were neat too and proud of Keith and his full of life personality. Keith is pretty sure he came through our area when he and his son road his motorcycle to Sturgis, SD for the bike rally up there. You could tell he was proud of that. And he had a ball telling all these boat people how he was helping me with gas while he shoveled ice out of an old building for them to fish with. He was like a Dad waving goodbye as we drove off and he said, “y’all come on back when ya ain’t got nothin else to do!”. And I think he meant it. And the gas was 3.65 a gallon—a bargain. And $1 for the tall can of sweet tea

Rice replaces ice in India bucket challenge

An Indian school boy eats a midday meal provided free at a government school in Hyderabad, India, Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013. India has offered free midday school meals since the 1960s in an effort to persuade poor parents to send their children to school, a program that reaches some 120 million children. The country now plans to subsidize wheat, rice and cereals for some 800 million people under a $20 billion scheme to cut malnutrition and ease poverty.

The famous "ice bucket" challenge is inspiring thousands of Indians to follow suit, but with a twist - they are replacing ice with rice to help the country's hungry people.
