Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Nov. 17, 2024 – Bradbury Art Museum (BAM) at Arkansas State University will open exhibitions featuring local high school students and graduating BFA seniors from Arkansas State University from 5 until 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.

“Inspired” is an annual, competitive exhibition offered to regional high school students. Also on view will be “Human Condition,” a BFA thesis exhibition put together by five graduating seniors from the Department of Art + Design.

Admission to the museum is free. The exhibitions will continue through Tuesday, Dec. 17.

The Inspired program invites high school students to create artwork in response to what they see during a tour of BAM. Students virtually submit their work and artist statements for consideration by a juror. Inspired allows local students to see a variety of contemporary artworks and receive an early glimpse into the process of exhibiting their own art in a professional setting.

This year, students were inspired by three concurrent fall exhibitions: “Contemporary Classic,” “Meaningful Disruption,” and “Overture.” The juror for “Inspired 10” is Vitus Shell, a painter and professor from Louisiana whose work was featured in “Contemporary Classic.” Out of well over 100 submissions from 10 area schools, Shell selected the works included in this exhibition.

Shell also selected a number of award winners from the entries. These will be announced at the opening reception and will be displayed on tags beside the work.

Included in the exhibition are 57 works by students from 10 area high schools:
