Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 12, 2024 – Jets Aquatic Club is pleased to announce the annual Jack Deacon Memorial Invite will be hosted at the Jonesboro City Pool from September 13-15.

The three-day event will be the first registered USA Swimming meet in Jonesboro since the 1990s, with attendees from multiple out-of-town teams, including Tupelo, Little Rock, Benton, Pocahontas, and more.

Sessions for the meet will start in the evening on Friday, September 13. On Saturday, the events will kick off at 9 a.m. with the national anthem, sung by Mary Beth Byrd, a local singer who appeared on The Voice. The fire department will accompany the national anthem by displaying a flag over the pool.

Former Mayor Harold Perrin will attend, along with John Deacon and Bren Landon (niece of John Deacon and daughter of Marie Deacon Landon), who will represent the Deacon family and present the Marie Deacon Landon Spirit Award. The meet was created in honor of Mr. Jack Deacon and his role in establishing Jets Aquatic Club in 1958.

Events will be held in all age groups including 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15 and over. Medals will be awarded to swimmers finishing in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, with ribbons going to 4th-8th places. The event will be split into four sessions: Friday PM, Saturday AM and PM, and Sunday a.m. Team relays will take place during both Saturday sessions.
