Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Oct. 28, 2024 – A Jonesboro man fled from officers in a stolen vehicle, exceeding speeds of 100 mph, police said.

On Oct. 26 around 9:10 a.m., a Jonesboro police officer responded to an address on Mays Lane in reference to a stolen vehicle. The victim told the officer his rented 2023 Toyota Corolla, valued at $30,000, was stolen from his driveway.

On Oct. 28, officers received an alert that the stolen vehicle was near the intersection of Belt and Melrose Streets. Officers attempted to make a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled.

The pursuit went through the north side of Jonesboro and eventually went into Paragould. During the chase, the vehicle reached speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, ran several stop signs, and crossed the center line multiple times.

The chase eventually returned to Jonesboro, in which officers deployed spikes near the intersection of Clinton School Road and Johnson Avenue, flattening two of the car’s tires. The car continued to flee until it came to a stop near the N. Culberhouse/Blankenship Road intersection.

The driver was arrested. During a search incident related to arrest, he was found with 1.3 grams of marijuana in his sock.

The man is charged with one count of theft by receiving $25,000 or more, one count of fleeing, one count of reckless driving, and one count of possession of Schedule VI drugs less than four oz.

He was given a court date of Dec. 17 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $100,000 cash or surety. The bond includes an ankle monitor.
