Late night bicycler caught with meth in his pants

Source: Craighead County Sheriffs Office

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 19, 2024 – A man is in custody after he tried to resist arrest when an officer noticed he had drugs crammed down his pants.

37-year-old Terry Dodson was riding a bicycle Monday night on N. Church Street. But, his bike didn’t have any lights on it. A JPD officer pulled Dodson over and determined he was on probation with a search waiver on file. The officer searched Dodson and while doing so, he felt a hard object in Dodson’s groin area.

When the officer tried to place Dodson in handcuffs to detain him, he reportedly started to pull away and they fell to the ground in a struggle. Dodson then got up and ran away. While the officer was chasing him, he saw Dodson reaching into his pants and throw something over his shoulder. The object broke into a bunch of pieces when it hit the road. Dodson was caught and taken into custody.

Officers found several plastic baggies in the road that tested positive for meth. It was about 2 grams worth. They didn’t come up with all that Dodson had on him, because he allegedly swallowed some of the meth while he was trying to escape. Officers took him to the hospital to get checked out, and then later to the Craighead County Detention Center.

In his probable cause hearing, Dodson was charged with possession of meth and drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest and fleeing. His bond was set at $20,000 c/s.
