Monette man charged with multiple counts of drug possession

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Oct. 3, 2024 – Jonesboro police found large amounts of drugs at a Monette man’s home on Sept. 30.

Drug Task Force agents had received information that 51-year-old Jeffery Austin, of Monette, had meth, mushrooms and pills at his residence.

On Sept. 30, agents set up surveillance on his residence. He was observed not wearing his seat belt, after which officers conducted a traffic stop. Austin was searched and while nothing was found, he did have a large amount of cash on him totaling $1,828.

Jeff Austin was taken back to his home where a search was conducted. According to the probable cause affidavit, around 10:40 a.m. Austin sent a text to his wife, Christy Austin, saying “Get everything out of the house do it now.” This was around the time police contacted Jeff Austin.

She told officers she hid some items in the bathroom closet. Upon searching the closet, officers found 61.9 grams of suspected meth, 19 suspected Clonazepam pills, 24 suspected Xanax pills, 16 suspected Tramadol pills, 228 grams of marijuana and 19 boxes of THC vapes. A glass pipe with white residue was found along with several baggies and containers with marijuana residue.

Jeff Austin told officers all contraband belonged to him.

Listed charges are one count of possession of meth/cocaine with purpose to deliver, three counts of possession of Schedule IV or V with purpose to deliver, one count of VI with purpose to deliver, and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Jeff Austin was given a court date of Dec. 20 at 8:30 a.m. and a bond of $50,000 c/s.
