Jonesboro, AR (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 23, 2024 – A new sign at a Craighead Forest Park biking trail was dedicated on Monday.

Located at Access 1 Trailhead, the signage features trail maps and information about each trail’s difficulty. Bikers can also scan a QR code on the sign, giving information about a trail’s elevation, length and more.

The bike trails opened in April and are 13 miles long.

“This is another big day for us and the community and the city of Jonesboro,” said Jonesboro Ridge Riders coach James Meredith. “To see the growth from five years from the team and the park and the community here that supports us, it’s just been fantastic. This sign is just the next step into where we’re going.”

The Jonesboro Ridge Riders are a local mountain biking team for 6th through 12th grade students.

Director of Parks and Recreation Danny Kapales went on to discuss upcoming plans for the park, including improved trail lighting, completing boat docks, and improving drainage on the walk/jog trail.

“What it takes is the partnerships that you see here,” Kapales said. “It also takes forward thinking, and we need every one of y’all to help us with that. That’s why you are here. We truly appreciate everything that y’all do to make sure that things like this happen, and this is just the first (thing) we see happening.”

The new sign features a map of trails and their difficulties.
