Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond after police said he assaulted a victim who had been involved in a previous domestic case.

On May 25, Jonesboro police officers responded to a disturbance call at a home on Olive Street. There, an officer spoke with a victim who said her fiancé, 50-year-old Thomas Manford Haney, got into an argument with her.

According to the probable cause affidavit, while the victim was lying on a couch, Haney began punching her in the face and kicking her in the back. Injuries were found consistent with the victim’s account, including bruising on the right side of her back and red marks on her face.

A review of Haney’s criminal history showed a prior conviction for third-degree domestic battery on Oct. 4, 2023. Records indicated that the conviction involved the same victim from the May 25 incident.

Haney was arrested at 1:50 p.m. that same day, according to the online jail roster. He appeared before District Judge David Boling, who found probable cause to charge Haney with one class D felony: Third-degree domestic battery/multiple offenses within five years.

Boling noted that in addition to the previous conviction, Hayey’s history shows he has had 19 previous failure-to-appear charges, resulting in the $100,000 bond. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim and wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Haney’s next court appearance is scheduled for July 30. If convicted, he faces up to six years in prison and fines up to $10,000.
