Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro woman is being held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond after police said she stomped on a retail worker’s toes over stolen items and drove away in a stolen vehicle.

The incident began on Feb. 17 when the employee confronted 32-year-old Tasia Tyler. According to the employee, Tyler was attempting to walk out of the store with multiple unpaid items. When they demanded the items back and threatened to call the police, the situation escalated.

The probable cause affidavit states that Tyler stomped on the employee’s toes, shoved her out of the way, and left the store with $120 worth of merchandise. The victim followed Tyler outside and managed to take pictures of both the suspect and her getaway vehicle.

The vehicle was later reported stolen, with the owner estimating its value at $9,800.

Three days later, on Feb. 20, Jonesboro police officers located both the stolen vehicle and Tyler. At the time of her arrest, Tyler reportedly had an active warrant through the parole board and refused to provide officers with her full name. Police were able to confirm she was the suspect from the Feb. 17 theft using the photos taken by the victim.

On Feb. 23, the store employee visited the police department and positively identified Tyler from a six-person photo lineup.

Tyler appeared before District Judge Tommy Fowler on Feb. 25, where he found probable cause to charge her with multiple offenses, including:

  • Robbery (Class B felony)
  • Theft by receiving greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000 (Class C felony)
  • Theft $1,000 or less – from building (Class A misdemeanor)
  • Assault – 2nd degree / reckless conduct creates risk of physical injury (Class B misdemeanor)
  • Obstructing governmental operations / refuses to provide information (Class C misdemeanor)

In addition to the $100,000 bond, Tyler was ordered to have no contact with the victim and must wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release.

Tyler’s next scheduled court appearance is set for April 23. If convicted on all charges, she faces up to 31 years in prison and $29,000 in fines.
