$150K Bond Set for Jonesboro Man Accused of Ramming Vehicle, Fleeing Police

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro man is being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond after police said he rammed another person’s vehicle during a disturbance and subsequently fled from officers at high speeds.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause on May 15 to charge 23-year-old Marqueze Jamal Harris with the following offenses:

  • Fleeing (Class D felony)
  • First-degree criminal mischief/property of another with a value of over $1,000 but $5,000 or less (Class D felony)
  • Reckless driving (Class B misdemeanor)
  • Third-degree assault of a family or household member/apprehension or imminent (Class C misdemeanor)
  • Driving while license is canceled, suspended or revoked (Misdemeanor)

According to the probable cause affidavit, on May 14, officers responded to a disturbance at an apartment complex in Jonesboro, where witnesses said Harris intimidated them by yelling and cursing at them. He then rammed their vehicle with his, causing over $1,000 in damage.

Officers found Harris driving on the road and attempted to stop him, but he sped off at a high rate of speed, posing a danger to other drivers. He eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

The affidavit noted that at the time of his arrest, Harris had a suspended driver’s license.

Harris’ next court appearance is scheduled for July 30. If convicted on all charges, he faces up to 12 years in prison and fines up to $22,000.
