According to the probable cause affidavit, Jonesboro Police Department officers responded Wednesday, Aug. 12 to reports of gunfire at an apartment building in the 200 block of South Main Street. A witness reported hearing a gunshot before driving past and witnessing a woman firing a small handgun at another female.

Officers located the victim approximately one block east of the scene. Officers also made contact with Harris in the parking lot where the shooting occurred.

The victim told police that an argument between the two led her to fire a shot into the air to encourage Harris – her girlfriend of one year – to leave. The victim then placed the handgun back inside the apartment.

While the victim was outside talking on the phone, Harris allegedly went inside without the victim noticing. The victim reported turning around to see Harris holding the firearm. When the victim fled, Harris allegedly fired the gun at her.

Surveillance footage from the area showed the victim crouching down and running across the street while looking behind her.

During the investigation, residents living across the street approached officers to report property damage. Investigators confirmed a bullet had penetrated their home, passed into the living room, and struck the far wall.

A Craighead County judge set Harris’ bond at $50,000 cash/surety with a no contact order. Her next court date is scheduled for Sept. 30.
