Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Arkansas State University announces the creation of the John A. Bobango / Pi Kappa Alpha Endowed Scholarship, established through the generosity of the Pi Kappa Alpha alumnus and the Bobango family to support high-achieving students pursuing careers in business or law.

The scholarship honors John A. Bobango, a respected leader within Pi Kappa Alpha and a longtime supporter and Distinguished Alumnus of A-State. Earnings from the endowment will fund annual awards for full-time students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, integrity and strong character — values Bobango exemplified throughout his life and career.

To qualify, students must maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher and major in business or be on the pre-law track. First preference is given to members of Pi Kappa Alpha who have demonstrated leadership. Second preference is given to students from Memphis, and third preference is given to students from Jonesboro.

“I have always believed in cultivating leaders who uphold integrity, character and service,” Bobango said. “Supporting students at Arkansas State is a meaningful way to help strengthen those values in future generations.”

Selection will be made by the Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni Scholarship Board and the Bobango Family.

“John Bobango represented the very best of what it means to be a leader within Pi Kappa Alpha and at Arkansas State,” said Tim O. Brown, co-chairman of the Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni Scholarship Board and an A-State Distinguished Alumnus. “His dedication to integrity, service and academic excellence left a lasting impact on generations of students. This scholarship ensures that his legacy will continue to inspire future Red Wolves to lead with character and purpose.”

The scholarship is part of the Pi Kappa Alpha Delta Theta Chapter Scholarship Fund, endowed at the Arkansas State University System Foundation and the Pi Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation. The scholarship board awards more than $80,000 per year to A-State students from a total endowment of more than $2 million, all donated by alumni of the Delta Theta chapter.
