Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Arkansas State Athletics recently completed the spring semester with a school-record 3.25 all-department GPA and 244 student-athletes who earned a place on the Athletics Director’s Honor Roll.

The Red Wolves set a new high for single-semester GPA for the second straight semester after completing the fall with a 3.24 mark.  The 244 student-athletes appearing on the AD’s Honor Roll are the third most in A-State history and included a school-record 68 who achieved a perfect 4.0.

“Our student-athletes continue to set an incredibly high academic standard,” said Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Chris Pezman. “Breaking the single-semester GPA record in back-to-back terms speaks volumes about their dedication and the strong support system provided by our coaches and academic staff.”

Both academic semesters this year have featured at least 14 A-State sports with a team GPA above a 3.0 and 244 or more student-athletes on the ADs Honor Roll for achieving a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The Red Wolves’ success in the classroom has also been highlighted by the most recent Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR) metrics announced by the NCAA.

A-State posted a school-record 87% GSR and had four sport programs record a perfect 1,000 multi-year score in the APR report, tying the second most in school history.  Driven by those perfect scores,  Arkansas State combined for a 981 department-wide average, marking the fifth highest scoring average in the 20-plus year of the APR.
