Jonesboro, AR – (Contributed) – Aug. 8, 2025 – The Arkansas State Letterwinners Club will induct four new members into A-State’s Hall of Honor during its 45th annual banquet in October.
The event will be held Oct. 3 at the Woodard McAlister Family Club inside the Johnny Allison Tower of Centennial Bank Stadium.
Former men’s basketball head coach David “Dickey” Nutt, football’s Kelcie McCray, women’s golf’s Rebecca Sarjeant and women’s basketball’s Rudy Sims will be inducted at the event. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a social gathering, followed by dinner and the program at 6:30 p.m.
The quartet will also be recognized at the Red Wolves’ football game versus Texas State on Oct. 4.

Tables seating eight people are available for $450, while single tickets cost $60. Access to the Woodard McAlister Family Club can be gained by entering the main gate (west side) of Centennial Bank Stadium and taking the elevators to level one.
Nutt joined the A-State men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in 1987 and continued in that role before serving as head coach from 1995-08, the second-longest tenure in program history (13 seasons). The two-time National Association of Basketball Coaches District 9 Coach of the Year led Arkansas State to its first Sun Belt Conference championship in 1997-98 with a 14-4 record in league play.
In 1998-99, he guided A-State to a second-place finish in the regular season before winning the conference tournament crown with a 65-48 victory over Western Kentucky in the championship game. Nutt coached A-State to its first NCAA Tournament appearance at the Division I level, and he tallied 189 wins in his tenure.
Named the 1998 Sun Belt Conference Coach of the Year, Nutt coached two-time Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Chico Fletcher and 20 all-conference selections, including 14 First Team All-Sun Belt Conference picks.
A First Team All-Sun Belt Conference selection in 2011, McCray (2007-11) played in 49 games for A-State and totaled a combined 220 tackles. Helping the Red Wolves to their first outright Sun Belt Conference championship with an unblemished 8-0 record, McCray tied for the team lead with 70 tackles in 2011.
He was second on the team with four interceptions and added four pass break-ups. For his career, McCray totaled 10 interceptions and had 50-plus tackles in each of his last three seasons, including a high of 79 in his junior campaign.
McCray went on to play four seasons (2012-16) in the National Football League with Miami, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, and Seattle. He was named to the NFL’s All-Pro special teams squad in 2014.
Three-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection Rebecca Sarjeant (1996-99) becomes the third women’s golfer to be inducted into the Hall of Honor. She was named to the Sun Belt Conference 30-year (1976-2006) All-Time Team and won back-to-back medalist honors to close out her collegiate career.
After winning medalist honors in the 1998-99 regular season finale at the EKU Lady Colonel Classic, Sarjeant followed It up winning the individual title at the Sun Belt Conference Championship.
She was a three-time Sun Belt Conference Golfer of the Week and finished inside the top 10 at the conference championship three times, winning in 1999 and taking runner-up in 1998.
Two-time All-Sun Belt Second Team selection Rudy Sims (2003-07) averaged 13.3 points per game on a 44.5 percent clip from the floor and a 36.0 shooting percentage from beyond the arc over 129 appearances.
The Memphis native averaged a team-leading 12.0 points per game as a freshman in 2003-04, guiding the Indians to their first Sun Belt Conference championship. She is the A-State’s all-time assists leader (548) and has the fourth-most steals (229) in program history.
The 2007 All-Sun Belt Tournament Team selection recorded 1,664 points over four seasons, placing sixth in the program record books. Sims was invited to the WNBA pre-draft camp in 2007.
