Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Arkansas State University has named Abigail Leggett of Jonesboro as the latest recipient of the Dick Clay “That’s Sports” Memorial Endowed Scholarship.
Established by family and friends, the scholarship honors Dick Clay, a 1968 graduate and 1969 master’s graduate of A-State who served as sports director at KAIT from 1970 to 1988.

Known as “Dickie-Bird,” Clay became a familiar voice in Northeast Arkansas, closing each broadcast with, “I’m Dick Clay and that’s sports.”
The scholarship supports media majors on the Jonesboro campus who have completed at least 30 credit hours and maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA.
Leggett has demonstrated a strong interest in sports media and creative production. She has worked as a creative assistant with the A-State women’s basketball team and is actively involved with student media through the School of Media and Journalism.
Through her audio and video work, she has developed a passion for sports storytelling and plans to pursue a career in creative media with a Women’s National Basketball Association organization. More information about privately funded scholarships at Arkansas State University is available online.
