Mobile, AL – (Contributed) – Arkansas State volleyball (17-8, 10-4 SBC) completed a 3-0 (25-10, 25-21, 25-14) sweep of South Alabama (14-11, 9-5 SBC) to clinch the program’s second consecutive Sun Belt Conference West Division title on Saturday afternoon inside Jaguar Gym.

Addison Collum led the team with 10 kills on a .438 percentage while Devyn Lewis posted nine on a .562 clip. Mia Maloney recorded a team-high 11 digs and Daedrianna Cail recorded seven blocks.

As a team, the Red Wolves tallied 36 kills on a .347 percentage and limited their opponents to 25 on a .012 mark.

The Red Wolves posted an 8-1 run to start the match, highlighted by three kills, two blocks plus a service ace. Both sides evenly split the next 10 rallies, but the last one marked the start of an offensive surge for A-State.

The lead grew to 16-8 before a 5-0 run extended the lead into double-digit territory. South Alabama responded with a kill alongside a block, but a kill from Devyn Lewis and a service ace for Cail set up the set-clinching block assists for Collum and Haley Glunz.

The Jaguars surged early in the second set, jumping out to an 11-5 lead before A-State began to chip away. A 3-0 run cut the deficit in half while eight of the next 13 rallies beyond that point fell in the Red Wolves favor, resulting in a 16-16 tie.

A service error broke a 19-19 tie and Kaitlin Whitlock landed a service ace to create a two-point gap. The Jaguars took two of the next three points, but a service and attack error followed by a kill from Devyn Lewis shut the door on a comeback bid.

A-State’s momentum carried into the next set as Glunz capitalized on back-to-back attack errors and increased the lead to 11-5 with a kill. The Jaguars closed the gap after taking three of the next four, but Payton Van Veen stonewalled the effort with a kill that sparked a 6-0 run.

The advantage did not drop below double digits for the rest of the set, allowing Collum to secure the match with a kill.
