Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Arkansas State University announces the creation of the Brandon and Jennifer Mitchell Scholarship, established in memory of Heather Goodwin, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi and in honor of Brandon Mitchell, Pi Kappa Alpha alumnus and Jennifer Mitchell, Alpha Omicron Pi alumna.

The endowed scholarship will support students who demonstrate strong academic performance and leadership grounded in integrity and character.

Earnings from the endowment will fund annual awards for full-time students at A-State. Preference will be given to the sons or daughters of Pi Kappa Alpha and Alpha Omicron Pi alumni, as well as current active members of either organization. In keeping with the spirit of both chapters, the scholarship will alternate each year between a Pi Kappa Alpha recipient and an Alpha Omicron Pi recipient.

“Heather believed deeply in supporting students who lead with purpose and demonstrate a commitment to service,” Brandon Mitchell said. “It means a great deal to us to honor that legacy and help future Red Wolves achieve their goals.”

Selections will be made by the Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni Scholarship Board.

“Brandon and Jennifer have long embodied the values of scholarship, leadership and character,” said Tim O. Brown, co-chairman of the Pi Kappa Alpha Alumni Scholarship Board and an A-State Distinguished Alumnus. “This scholarship honors those ideals while ensuring that students from Pi Kappa Alpha and Alpha Omicron Pi continue to have meaningful support at Arkansas State.”

The scholarship is part of the Pi Kappa Alpha Delta Theta Chapter Scholarship Fund, endowed at the Arkansas State University System Foundation and the Pi Kappa Alpha Educational Foundation. The scholarship board awards more than $80,000 per year to A-State students from a combined endowment of more than $2 million, all donated by alumni of the Delta Theta chapter.
