Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 9, 2024 – According to several reports and JPD, there was a large police presence on Gee Street on Tuesday afternoon that ended in a man taking his own life.

A man reportedly entered Native Brew Works around 3pm and “caused a scene” after staff refused to serve him any alcohol.

JPD PIO Sally Smith told JRN that he then “brandished a weapon,” meaning, that he showed the firearm in his waistband to the staff.

He then barricaded himself in the bathroom for over an hour, and officers made entry to confirm that he died by suicide just after 4pm.

The subject is reportedly a veteran.

If you or someone you know is struggling with suicide/mental health, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Hotline.
