Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Spencer Vaughn, general manager for the Jonesboro Best Buy, made an appearance on 104.9 The Fox with Stafford and Frigo Thursday morning to announce the opening date and festivities for the return of the electronics store.

“I cannot put into words how excited we are,” said Vaughn. Best Buy will officially open on July 30. “You should see the blue going up in not too terribly long,” he added.

The store will be located on the corner of Highland and Caraway in the Highland Shopping Center and has plans for a “Best Buy’s Back Block Party” to celebrate.

“We’ve got food trucks all weekend long, we’ve got a DJ that will be out,” Vaughn said. “Our first 100 guests are going to be given a gift card just for being in line.” He added that the store had more surprises in store for the community and was still finalizing the details for the grand opening.

According to Vaughn, Best Buy corporate has had its eye on returning to Jonesboro since a tornado in March 2020 destroyed the store. “They were looking to try to get back because they do love this community so much,” Vaughn explained.

“Jonesboro is such an incredible community to be in for any business,” he added. “The community really supports us, and we like being back involved in community events. Jonesboro was a big deal for Best Buy.”

Vaughn worked as a home sound lead at the previous store a decade ago and has now returned at the helm to usher in the new iteration of the electronics store. He said that he wasn’t the only employee returning to work for Best Buy in Jonesboro, and he attributes that to the company’s culture.

“When you work at Best Buy, it’s one of those things that, you really are a family,” Vaughn said. “A lot of people say that, but we are.” He added, “Several people in my wedding were friends that I made at the store.”

The new Best Buy will be about the same size as the previous location at Turtle Creek Mall. The store will include a showroom, the Geek Squad, and the other features found in a typical Best Buy store.

JRN will provide additional information as the opening for Best Buy gets closer.

“All eyes of Best Buy are on Jonesboro; now we’ve just got to show out for them,” Vaughn explained.
