Brookland chase ends with multiple Charges

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug 12, 2024 – A Brookland police officer got into a high-speed chase involving a motorcycle over the weekend.

Chase Hussung was clocked on his motorcycle doing 80 in a 50 mph speed zone near CR 905. The officer flipped on his emergency lights and siren in an attempt to pull Hussung over, but he wouldn’t slow down, much less stop.

The officer had to terminate the pursuit, but he was able to get the vehicle tag and a clothing description to area officers. That information was helpful, because a little bit later, a state trooper saw a motorcycle that fit the description on Highway 49. Once again, the siren and the lights were on, and another chase began.

Hussung turned off Highway 49 and sped down several different county roads, driving erratically, sometimes in the wrong lane. After one turn, he lost control and crashed his bike. Then, he got up and ran off on foot, with the trooper still in pursuit.

The foot-chase lasted about 100 yards before the trooper got close enough to deploy a taser, which stopped Hussung in his tracks. He was arrested and taken to NEA Baptist to be assessed by medical personnel. Once cleared from the hospital, he went to jail.

In his probable cause hearing, Hussung was hit with a number of charges: felony fleeing, reckless driving, refusal to submit, fake tags, no insurance, driving on a suspended license, and more. His bond was set at $150,000 and he’s required to wear a GPS ankle monitor.
