Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of the 2nd Judicial District is hosting a fundraiser, “The Next Chapter: A CASA Storybook Luncheon,” to raise awareness for National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April.

The luncheon will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at the Arvest Ballroom inside Embassy Suites in Jonesboro.

The event will feature:

  • A special appearance and proclamation by Mayor Harold Copenhaver.
  • A keynote address from Judge Barbara Halsey, who was instrumental in establishing the local CASA chapter.

“We are incredibly grateful for Judge Halsey and her foresight in starting our chapter of CASA in Northeast Arkansas,” said Angie Tate, executive director of CASA. “We are excited she will speak to community members and supporters as we bring awareness to Child Abuse Prevention Month.”

CASA recruits, trains, and supports community volunteers who serve as advocates for abused and neglected children in foster care. The 2nd Judicial District chapter has been serving children in Craighead, Greene, Clay, Poinsett, and Mississippi counties since 1995.

Tickets for the event are $50 each and available by contacting Tate at 870-273-5415 or angie.tate@neacasa.org.
