Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Junior Arkansas State track and field thrower Menachem Chen was named Sun Belt Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday following a standout performance at the LSU Opener.

The Rishon LeZion, Israel, native registered a distance of 17.91m (58-9.25) to claim first place in the shot put and followed with a 56.11m (184-1.00) discus throw, resulting in a third-place finish. For the outdoor season, he leads all Sun Belt throwers in the shot put and holds the second farthest distance in the discus throw, while both marks rank 14th nationally.

The first-place finish is Chen’s third in the shot put and the most by a Red Wolf in 2025-26. It is the 2026 Indoor All-Sun Belt Second Team selection’s first career conference player of the week honor.

Carlo-Martinez Jaramillo and Kamil Przybyla are the only other A-State athletes to receive Sun Belt athlete of the week recognition in the 2025-26 cross country, indoor, and outdoor season.

The Red Wolves resume action at the Alumni Bulldog Relays in Starkville, Mississippi, and the WashU Invite in St. Louis on March 27-28.
