Craighead County Announces Continued Partnership with City of Jonesboro through Homeland Security Grant Program Funding

Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Craighead County Judge Marvin Day announced the continued partnership of Craighead County and the City of Jonesboro through the Homeland Security Grant Program.

Craighead County has secured $311,961.00 in funding through the program, providing an important source of support for both Craighead County and the City of Jonesboro.

These grant funds help provide specialized equipment and training for Weapons of Mass Destruction response teams, who respond to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive incidents that exceed the capabilities of traditional first responders.

The funds awarded have been specifically approved for personal protective equipment, detection and identification equipment, specialized tools, communications, decontamination resources, and continued training for these advanced response teams.

Day recognizes the importance of maintaining a well-equipped and highly trained team in Craighead County that is prepared to mobilize throughout Northeast Arkansas when the need arises.

Through the hard work of the Craighead County Office of Emergency Management and continued partnership with the City of Jonesboro, Craighead County is able to strengthen preparedness and provide specialized resources to our communities when a critical incident occurs.
