Jonesboro, AR — (JonesboroRightNow.com) — May 27, 2025 — Crews responded to a structure fire at Riceland Foods earlier on Tuesday.

Jonesboro Fire Chief Martin Hamrick said the Jonesboro Fire Department was called out to the fire at 11:23 a.m., and it took about an hour to get everything under control.

“It was a piece of machinery inside the building,” he said. “One of their machines that does some of the rice milling had malfunctioned and caused a small fire in the machine. It smoked up the building pretty good, but there were no injuries or anything like that. They’re complicated when you get out there because the machinery sometimes is hard to get into the actual fire itself, but it just made a lot more smoke than the actual fire.”

Motorists were asked to avoid the area and watch for responding vehicles.  Jonesboro police officers helped direct traffic.
