UPDATE | Crews Responding to Large Fire in Jonesboro, Road Blocked

Update 1:30 p.m.:

Jonesboro Fire Department Chief Marty Hamrick said the fire had been put out, and that crews were working to hit the remaining hot spots. He added that Highland Drive is back open, and that the cause of the fire was still unknown.

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Part of Highland Drive is blocked due to a fire, Jonesboro E911 Dispatch said.

According to Jonesboro E911 Dispatch, Highland Drive, the area of Easley Lane, will be blocked due to a “large grass/mulch fire.”

Dispatch said that fire and police departments are on the scene. Motorists are asked to avoid the area. Public information official for the Jonesboro Police Department Sally Smith said police were on scene directing traffic, and that the fire was called in at 11:53 a.m.
