Daylight saving time to begin Sunday

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – Prepare to spring forward one hour this weekend as Daylight saving time starts across the country.

Americans will set their clocks forward one hour on Sunday, March 8. At 2 a.m. local time, clocks will be turned forward to read 3 a.m. local time. This results in sunrise and sunset occurring about an hour later, creating more light in the evening and less light in the morning.

Most smart devices, such as phones, computers, gaming consoles, and more, will automatically adjust to the time change. However, wall clocks, appliance clocks, and car clocks may need to be manually changed.

Daylight saving time will end on Nov. 1 at 2 a.m. local time.

To cope with the time change, adjust your sleep schedule gradually by going to bed 10-15 minutes earlier each night before it goes into effect.

If possible, try to get some early morning light. This will help reset your body’s natural clock. Additionally, limiting caffeine and avoiding it late in the day altogether will help.

Keeping a consistent sleep and mealtime routine, even on weekends, will also help.

Despite that, the loss of an hour of sleep can still be hard. Plan for extra rest around the start of daylight saving time, give yourself time to adapt, and avoid heavy schedules if possible.
