Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The Play It Again Sports Jonesboro Open Presented by Westside Discs disc golf tournament begins Friday.

The tournament is in its 10th year and will have two levels of competition: professional and amateur. The professional level has drawn 160 players from 34 states and 13 countries and will be taking place at the championship course at Disc Side of Heaven.

The men’s course is about 9,800 feet long, and the women’s is 8,800 feet long. Hills on the courses bring 40 to 50 feet of elevation.

“This course brings people to Jonesboro, AR, every weekend. The reason it does is because of the hundreds of thousands of views that it gets online during the tournament,” said Brad Pietz, tournament director. “Disc golfers want to go play the courses that they see; they want to go play the best courses in the world. And so, disc golfers will come to Jonesboro, AR, every weekend just to play.”

The amateur tournament will be taking place at Disc Side of Heaven and Craighead Forest Park.

The Disc Golf Pro Tour began in 2016, with Jonesboro added in 2017. It has steadily grown over the years as disc golf’s popularity has increased.

The Jonesboro tournament raises money for different charities, having raised $150,000 since 2021. Donations come from a mix of sponsorship funds, ticket sales, and other sources and will benefit The Learning Center, a nonprofit serving children and adults with learning and developmental disabilities.

Tickets can be purchased online here. For those who cannot attend, six rounds of the tournament will be broadcast on the Disc Golf Network.

The tournament is set for Friday, April 17, starting at 8 a.m., and goes until Sunday, April 19, at 5 p.m. Disc Side of Heaven is located at 4500 Strawfloor Drive.
