Little Rock, AR – (Contributed) – The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) today announced a “Farmers Sales Tax Exemption Card” is now available.

The card, which is the result of Act 621 of 2025, makes it easier for Arkansas farmers to obtain certain sales tax exemptions at the point of sale.

The exemption applies to items including animals, chemicals, feed, machinery, and seed.

Farmers can apply at atap.arkansas.gov. Following approval, DFA will mail the card to the applicant. The card will remain active for eight years, with an initial cost of $20. The renewal cost is $10. It will include the name and address of the farm, the issue date, and a unique card number.

The legislation establishing the card was sponsored by Representative DeAnn Vaught (R-District 87) and Senator Tyler Dees (R-District 35) and signed by Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

“Farmers shouldn’t have to jump through hoops just to do their jobs,” said Governor Sanders. “This card makes it easier to claim sales tax exemptions right at the point of purchase, cutting paperwork, and giving farmers more time where it matters most: in the field and with their families.”

The card easily fits into a wallet and is made of a durable material.

“DFA is proud to implement this valuable program,” said DFA Secretary Jim Hudson. “It is consistent with DFA’s goal of consistently finding new ways to improve the services we provide Arkansans. In establishing this card, the General Assembly and Gov. Sanders are making day-to-day work easier for our farmers and the retailers that serve them.”

Examples of specific sales tax-exempt products include tractors, sprayers, irrigation equipment, mechanical pickers, and fertilizer.
