Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A former Jonesboro puppy mill owner who is serving probation on a felony charge is behind bars again, facing a misdemeanor theft charge.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause July 27 to charge 65-year-old Karen Sue Siegel with misdemeanor theft of $1,000 or less in a case involving a Walmart. The Craighead County Sheriff’s Office could not provide any further details on the case at this time, and JRN has reached out to Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jessica Thomason for more information.

Siegel pled guilty in Feb. 2026 to one count of aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat or equine, a class D felony, and was sentenced to 24 months of supervised probation and 50 days of house arrest after officers seized more than 50 dogs during a search warrant in January 2024.

Investigators noted that animals were found in stacked kennels that were covered in waste or freely roaming the property. Several animals appeared malnourished and unclean, and officers found two deceased animals while executing the warrant.

Court records show that Siegel was also arrested on July 9 on misdemeanor animal cruelty charges. She is currently being held on a $15,000 cash/surety bond with a scheduled court date of Sept. 28.
