Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A towering piece of machinery and a bit of extra hustle and bustle are coming to the north side of Jonesboro Media Group’s building at 314 Union St. this week. The activity marks the beginning of a major facelift for the 121-year-old building.
Work is officially underway to completely repaint the building’s large logo signs, kickstarting a collaborative project that brings together local professional painters, regional artists, and a significant dose of social media flair.
Originally constructed in 1905 to accommodate downtown’s commercial growth during the railway boom, 314 Union St. was historically known as the Max Meyer Building. Named after a prominent early 20th-century merchant and community leader in Craighead County, the historic brick structure stands today as a testament to Jonesboro’s resilience.

Long before it became a modern media hub, the building anchored the downtown economy. Today, Saga Communications’ Jonesboro Media Group carries on that legacy of local impact. The building now houses six prominent FM radio signals – 104.9 The Fox, 100.5 The Eagle, Mix 106.3, 98.5 The Outlaw, Hot 107.5, and EZ 92.7 – alongside the hyper-local, digital newsroom of Jonesboro Right Now.
The building’s revitalization project begins Thursday, May 28, with the arrival of a massive aerial lift—potentially stretching up to 85 feet—to allow crews to safely reach the highest points of the structure.
The first phase of the transformation focuses on prep work. On Thursday and Friday, Mario Nava of Maddio’s Painting and Repair will handle the priming and base coat. Known for their massive presence on TikTok, the Maddio’s team actually landed the job through social media networking after seeing a post about the upcoming project.
Once the canvas is prepped, the artistic detailed work begins. On Monday, June 1, regional artist and muralist Katie Coleman will take over the lift to meticulously repaint the official logos. Coleman, fresh off completing a stunning mural project in Kennett, is known for her precision and experience with large-scale outdoor displays. Coleman will be working daily from 7 a.m. until dark until the logos are fully realized.
Because a project of this scale doesn’t happen every day, the entire process will be documented from start to finish. Local residents can follow along online, as the team plans to share behind-the-scenes looks, progress videos, and social media reels highlighting the hard work of the professionals making it happen.
What to know for visitors: To ensure the safety of the crews, the artist, and the public, all parking spaces along the north side of the building will be temporarily blocked off with safety cones starting Wednesday evening. These spaces will remain closed for the duration of the project until the painting is complete. Visitors are asked to use alternative parking around the building.
Progress updates will be posted to social media channels all week as the building gets a refreshed look for the community.
