Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – July 21, 2024 – Those traveling to and from Greene County on Highway 351 over the next several weeks might want to find an alternate route.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation has announced alternating lane closures will begin on Tuesday, July 23 and last for approximately four weeks.

The scope of work includes patching and leveling, along with a new layer of asphalt. The work will begin around Peachtree and extend for approximately seven miles north to the Greene County line.

The ARDOT release states that lane closures and patch work will occur on weekdays from 9am to 3pm. After that is complete, overlay work will occur on weeknights from 7pm to 6am.

JRN first released details of this project back in April alongside a comprehensive list of all road construction projects going on right now in Jonesboro.

Full release:

Lane closures are scheduled on Highway 351 (Old Greensboro Road) from Peachtree Avenue to the Craighead/Greene County Line on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Tuesday, July 23 and continuing for approximately four weeks.

Weather permitting, crews will perform asphalt patching and leveling along approximately seven miles of Highway 351.

Once the patching and leveling work is complete, crews will place a new layer of asphalt. This work will occur on weeknights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for approximately two weeks.

The patching, leveling, and placing of new asphalt is expected to take approximately six weeks total; work is expected to be complete in early September.

Traffic will be controlled using message boards, traffic cones, and signage.
