Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – The Holy Women of Consecration (HWOC) will be holding its first “Walk by Faith HWOC Fundraiser Walk-A-Thon” in November, which will raise funds for a food drive to be scheduled in December.

HWOC president Valerie Thomas said God gave her the idea for the fundraiser during a board meeting back in June.

“Our goal is to raise $5,000,” Thomas said, noting that all proceeds will go toward feeding families in December; however, an exact date for the food drive has not yet been set. “We want to be able to feed at least 50 families or more in Jonesboro and the surrounding area.”

She said the organization also wants to give out gas cards and other essential items at the food drive. Participants either donate money based on the number of miles they walk or make a one-time donation.

“It’s just whatever God put on your heart to be able to give, if they want to do a one-time donation and they don’t want to walk… because we understand that everybody can’t,” she said.

The walk will be Nov. 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Joe Mack Campbell Park, located at 3021 Dan Ave.

HWOC T-shirts, which are $20 each, and refreshment items will also be available for purchase to help raise funds.

The donation campaign and walk registration will open online here on Nov. 1; however, registration and donations can also be made on the day of the walk. Registration is free. The deadline for online registration will be November 14 at 5 p.m.

According to Thomas, the Holy Women of Consecration is a local nonprofit started in November 2024 through the True Church of Christ Divine #4 in Jonesboro.

The HWOC board is comprised of Thomas; vice-president Shaconna Smith; chairman and assistant presiding Bishop, Bennie Pruitt; and treasurer Fanika Williams.

Its mission is to inspire, equip, and empower women to walk boldly in their divine calling through discipleship, spiritual formation, and Christ-centered community, she noted.

“It is just giving women back their relationship with God and bringing them back to seeking his kingdom and his grace,” Thomas said. “It also gives them the chance to walk in their divine purpose that God has placed in their lives.”

She also noted that the HWOC creates opportunities and provides resources for women to discover their God-given gifts through weekly prayer meetings and the HWOC prayer line, Bible study sessions, outreach services, and its fellowship group.
