Hoxie Police Officer Accused of Selling Drugs

Hoxie, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – May 11, 2024 – A resident of Jonesboro who works as a part-time police officer in Hoxie has been arrested on drug charges.

Joshua Lynn Barber, 42, was arrested by agents of the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force (2JDTF) Friday night after he allegedly sold drugs to undercover 2JDTF agents while in his police uniform and armed with his service weapon.

2JDTF Commander Chad Henson said the controlled purchase was set-up after 2JDTF agents received information that Barber had been selling narcotics while he was in police uniform and armed with his service weapon.

Barber was arrested without incident prior to reporting for his shift with Hoxie Police and transported to the Craighead County Sheriff’s Office. There he was charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance and Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and Firearms.

Barber will have a first appearance hearing in court on Monday, May 13th in Jonesboro.
