Jonesboro, AR – Contributed – Internal Medicine Physician and Jonesboro native Hallie “Frederick” Gurule, D.O., has joined the multi-specialty medical staff at St. Bernards Clopton Clinic and is accepting new patients as their primary care provider.

A graduate of Jonesboro High School and Arkansas State University, Gurule stayed in Jonesboro to earn her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree as a member of NYITCOM-Arkansas’ inaugural 2020 class.

She then completed an Internal Medicine Residency with Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year of residency.

She continued practicing in Tulsa after graduating, and now, as a member of St. Bernards Medical Group, she joins a team of 30 multi-specialty healthcare providers started by the late Dr. Owen Clopton more than 60 years ago.

“It’s a privilege to come home and take care of the same community that raised me,” Gurule said. “I look forward to being that primary care option for anyone who needs a partner toward better health.”

Gurule’s arrival strengthens the care options at St. Bernards Clopton Clinic, said Dr. Ben Owens, Jr., who has practiced at St. Bernards for nearly 40 years. The clinic has added six additional Internal Medicine physicians over the past four years alone.

“Access to care remains a critical component of what we do,” Owens said. “Dr. Gurule knows St. Bernards, but better yet, she knows this community. Growing up here, she understands the specific challenges our patients face. She could have practiced anywhere, but we’re honored she chose to come home.”

At Clopton Clinic, Gurule and her Internal Medicine partners help adult patients live healthier lives through preventive care, medical guidance and coordinated services with specialists across St. Bernards Healthcare. They routinely support patients managing chronic diseases, such as heart disease, high blood pressure, lung disease, diabetes, obesity and more.

Gurule’s husband, Dr. Jonathan Gurule, also joined St. Bernards this year as an Orthopedic Surgeon. Together, they live in Jonesboro with their dog, Sabre. They are expecting their first child, a boy, in February.
