Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Aug. 8, 2025 – A Jonesboro couple faces a host of felony charges after investigators said they found a massive drug stash during a probation search, including gallons of liquid DMT and nearly 1,000 grams of DMT powder.

According to an affidavit, on Aug. 6, investigators with the Jonesboro Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit responded to the 2200 block of Shoshoni Drive for two suspects: 26-year-old Akyra Zakyia Alston-Stegall and 45-year-old Michael Derrick Alston.

“Michael is known to investigators to be on suspended stance with a search waiver on file and Akyra is known to investigators to be on active supervision with a search waiver on file,” the document said.

Investigators met with Michael in his garage and told him a probation search would be conducted. The home was cleared and Michael’s wife, Akyra, was found in the kitchen. She was detained without incident.

During the search, several items were found including numerous drugs:

  • Four LSD tablets
  • A box of insulin syringes
  • 905 grams of yellow DMT powder
    • The affidavit notes 904 grams was separated into three pie dishes covered in plastic wrap with what appeared to be dates written on them
  • 1.2 gallons of liquid DMT
  • .5 grams of MDMA
  • One gram of meth
  • One gram of marijuana
  • Two digital scales
  • Two bongs, one of which had meth residue

Michael and Akyra said they had valid medical marijuana cards but were unable to provide investigators with copies, the affidavit said.

On Aug. 8, District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Akyra and Michael with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a Schedule VI substance with the purpose to deliver, possession of meth or cocaine with the purpose to deliver less than two grams, possession of a Schedule I or II substance (not meth or cocaine) with the purpose to deliver, and manufacturing of a Schedule I or II substance (not meth or cocaine).

Fowler also found probable cause to charge Michael with two additional charges: resisting arrest and obstructing governmental operations. Michael was given a $500,000 cash/surety bond based on an extensive criminal history and multiple failure to appear charges. Akyra was given a $125,000 cash/surety, as Fowler noted she was on probation, and this was her fifth possible charge in three years.

The couple is scheduled to be back in court Sept. 30.

For the past 14 weeks and counting, the top Billboard spot has been held by a love ballad: Alex Warren's "Ordinary." As Berklee College of Music professor and forensic musicologist Joe Bennett notes, the February release is "a fair bit slower than the mean average for the Hot 100, or for a historical song of the summer."
