JFD says structure fire last week was ‘act of arson’

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 25, 2025 – The Jonesboro Fire Department said that a structure fire last week was an act of arson.

According to a news release from the JFD, firefighters and paramedics arrived at a “fully engulfed structure fire” on Sept. 18 at 4:36 a.m.

First responders later discovered a resident had been inside the structure when the fire started. The resident was taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

JFD Fire Marshals investigated the events leading up to the fire, during which they questioned the resident, 39-year-old Timothy Meadors, according to the release. The release said investigators discovered the fire to be an act of arson.

According to the release, Meadors was taken into custody on Sept. 23 and then taken to the Craighead County Detention Center. He is awaiting a probable cause hearing.
