UPDATE (9 a.m. by Rachel Rudd, Chief Reporter):

A JFD representative told JRN the building had been cleared, and crews were still working on putting out fires in parts of it. He added that no injuries had been reported.

Capt. Charles Smith with the Salvation Army of Jonesboro said damage had been done to the organization’s old thrift store storage warehouse, but there was no damage to any other Salvation Army buildings.

Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – The Jonesboro Fire Department (JFD) was called to the scene of a fire Friday morning.

According to an eyewitness, the fire was located at the warehouse near the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Cate Avenue near the railroad tracks. A representative with JFD said crews had just responded to the fire approximately.

“They closed one of the roads down right next to it,” he said. “It’s a good idea to just stay out of that area and all the smoke.”

This is breaking news. JRN will provide updates as they are available.
