Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Jonesboro man who was previously convicted of a violent felony faces a new charge after police said they found a firearm inside his vehicle during a probation search.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause Aug. 24 to charge 23-year-old Quion Montez Williams with possession of a firearm by certain persons (prior violent felony with a deadly weapon/firearm used in another crime), a class B felony.

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Aug. 22, Jonesboro police officers were investigating a group smoking marijuana in a Daybreak apartment parking lot. They met with Williams, who admitted to being on probation.

A probation search of his vehicle led to officers uncovering an AR-15 style pistol inside.

Court documents show that Williams had been previously convicted on a second-degree battery charge, among other charges, in May 2026. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation and 12 months suspended imposition of a sentence.

Boling noted at Monday’s probable cause hearing that in total, Williams has been arrested six times on violent charges that also involved weapons since July 2025.

As a result of his criminal history, Williams is being held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 26.
