Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – Sept. 17, 2025 – A Jonesboro man is facing multiple felony charges after deputies said he shot his ex-girlfriend’s dog in the eye with a pellet gun during an argument.

According to an affidavit, on Sept. 16, Craighead County deputies responded to the 4000 block of County Road 780 for an ongoing domestic disturbance.

Upon arrival, they met with the victim, who said her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Jake Nathaniel Miller, left the scene. He was found in a wooded area west of the home.

The victim told deputies Miller became angry and began to get into an argument with her. During the argument, Miller took her cell phone, broke the screen, and bent the phone. Afterward, the victim said Miller began threatening everyone at the home, threatening to “beat the crap out of them and bash their heads,” the affidavit said.

Deputies spoke with a family member of Miller’s, who told them Miller had said he was going to smash everyone’s cell phones and kill them all. The family member then said Miller grabbed a pellet gun and shot at Miller’s ex-girlfriend’s dog three times, with one of the shots hitting the dog in the eye and damaging it.

Deputies spoke with Miller’s other ex-girlfriend. The affidavit said she told deputies Miller was mad because she was staying at the house with his other ex-girlfriend and threatened to kill himself if she did not stay with him. Miller also told her that he was going to break the other ex-girlfriend’s cell phone and bash their heads in while they slept, the affidavit said.

On Sept. 17, Miller appeared before District Judge David Boling, who found probable cause to charge him with first-degree terroristic threatening, aggravated cruelty to a dog, cat, or horse, and second-degree criminal mischief.

Miller is being held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond, awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for Oct. 30.
