Jonesboro, AR – JonesboroRightNow.com – A Jonesboro man is behind bars after police said he held his girlfriend captive at gunpoint and threatened her life over accusations of her cheating on him.

District Judge David Boling found probable cause Feb. 9 to charge 33-year-old Jonathan Durwin Davis with the following:

  • Terroristic threatening – first-degree/threatens physical injury or property damage (Class D felony)
  • Aggravated assault on a family or household member (Class D felony)
  • Kidnapping – false imprisonment – second-degree/interferes with another person’s liberty (Class A misdemeanor)

According to the probable cause affidavit, on Feb. 5, Jonesboro police spoke to a victim who said her boyfriend, Davis, had pointed a gun at her head and threatened to kill her because he thought she was cheating on him. She added that Davis took her phone and told her she could not leave until they “worked it out.”

Officers found Davis shortly after, and he was taken into custody.

The victim and another witness told police that Davis had made suicidal statements before being taken into custody and disclosed that he had been abusive to them both in the past. Pictures of injuries attributed to Davis hitting the victim with a belt during an unreported incident were also sent.

Davis was given a $50,000 cash/surety bond and ordered to wear a GPS ankle monitor upon release. A no-contact order was also established between Davis and the victim.

Davis’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 20.
