Jonesboro, AR – Jonesboro Right Now – A Jonesboro man is behind bars after police said a teen victim and the victim’s sibling were forced to lock themselves in a bedroom after multiple pleas for the man to not touch the victim in an inappropriate manner.

On July 19, Jonesboro police officers responded to a home in south Jonesboro for a sexual assault. There, they met with 53-year-old Eldon Ray Brownderville, who allowed officers inside. Officers also met with the victim and their sibling, who were both in a locked bedroom.

Investigators stated that the victim reported non-consensual physical contact by Brownderville inside the home. Video evidence was subsequently provided to officers, and a forensic interview was conducted as part of the investigation.

The victim said that Brownderville instigated touching the victim in an inappropriate manner until the teen and their sibling were able to get away and locked themselves in a room until officers arrived.

The roster for the Craighead County Detention Center shows that Brownderville was arrested at 4:15 p.m. on July 21. He appeared the next day before District Judge David Boling, who found probable cause to charge him with one class B felony: Second-degree sexual assault.

Brownderville is being held on a $75,000 cash/surety bond awaiting his next scheduled court appearance on Aug. 21. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in prison and fines up to $15,000.
