Update Jan. 28:

“Thank you for your patience,” the post said. “Please reference the City’s social media outlets for updates on adjusted schedules.”

Jonesboro, AR – (JonesboroRightNow.com) – City of Jonesboro sanitation routes are being affected by lingering wintry precipitation.

Due to city offices being closed Jan. 26-27, sanitation routes were already not running. A City of Jonesboro Facebook post said sanitation pickups would not run until it was deemed safe to do so.

“With significant street impacts from winter weather, be advised that sanitation services are and will be impacted,” the Facebook post said. “The City of Jonesboro will not run pickups until roads are safe.”

Sanitation superintendent Patrick Courtois told JRN: “Ultimately, the mayor makes the final decision, but they are relying on us directors to advise them. So, every day I’ve been getting out, driving around on the routes to see how the roads are looking. I report back to the mayor’s office, and they make a decision.”

The post added that leaving trash bins on the side of the road could result in damage from snow-clearing efforts, and asked residents who were able to safely move their cans to do so.

Road crews have been working to clear roads now that the winter storm has moved out of the area, with the main focus on the most heavily trafficked routes. As time allows and as conditions on primary routes improve, crews will begin to work on secondary routes.

Inclement weather updates, as well as sanitation pickup updates, will be posted to the city’s social media.
